Courtney is an Evansville native. She grew up in a Christian household and accepted Christ at
an early age. She greatly benefited from the spiritual leadership of her teachers and pastors
while growing up, including the shepherding of both Lou and Stew. She graduated from
Cedarville University with a degree in History Education. After teaching and working for an
educational not-for-profit, she accepted a position writing children’s curriculum for a local church. Her passion for children and rightly upholding the Word of truth were paired nicely in this role. When Jeff and Courtney decided to join the startup team for Encounter, Courtney continued to function in this way – writing, teaching, and later leading Children’s Ministry.
Encounter is truly a blessing for our whole family. Jeff and I are continually challenged by our core values as a church and grateful that our children Matthew and Elizabeth are growing to know the Lord in such an authentic, truthful, grace filled place. I count it a privilege and high calling to lead the children in encountering God.
Hosea 11:4, “I led them with cords of human kindness, with ties of love. To them I was like one who lifts a little child to the cheek, and I bent down to feed them.”
Jane Austen, Pride and Prejudice, “There is I believe in every disposition a tendency to some
particular evil.” To which I add … and some particular good.
Favorite Thing to Do:
Read. I typically have a stack of five books going. Doesn’t always bode well for getting the house cleaned up. 🙂
