Listen to Not Your Average Joe – God Meant It for Good
I was in Nashville at the THINQ Christian Culture Summit last week, and had lunch with an old friend. We reminisced about our old neighborhood, mutual friends, and terrible fashion choices of the 80’s. At one point in our conversation, we began filling in blanks from the years we lost touch. How did you get connected with Caedmon’s Call (his band)? Why the move to Nashville from TX? What was it like spending 300 days a year for 15 years on the road? Traveling the world? Recording gold records? Wanting a family through it all? Dealing with family challenges? Why did one of your band mates completely abandon his faith towards the end while you grew stronger? Walking away, I reflected on a few forks in the road of my life. What if I stayed in TX? Stayed in music like he did? What if God positively answered the “unanswered prayers” I hoped for but didn’t receive? Have you asked these types of questions? Have you ever wondered where God is on the journey? In the Trials? Temptations? When bad things happen? When evil seems to rule? Where do my choices intersect with His sovereignty? As we finish our Joseph study, we see his conclusions on these types of questions. And it’s important to know His character and promises if you hope to stand strong during the trials. Reflect on these song lyrics (Lead of Love), from his band: “Looking back at the road so far, the journey’s left its share of scars. Mostly from leaving the narrow and straight. Looking back, it is clear to me (that) a man is more than the sum of his deeds. And how You’ve made good of this mess I’ve made is a profound mystery… looking back I see the lead of love.” – Pastor Stew
