Stew Armstrong

Head Pastor

Stew Armstrong is the Lead Pastor of Encounter Church. Growing up in Houston, TX, he graduated from Baylor University with a business degree. He then went on to get his Masters of Theology in Pastoral Ministries from Dallas Theological Seminary, where he graduated with high honors. He has been in full-time vocational ministry for around 30 years, serving as a youth pastor and college pastor before planting Encounter Church in 2013. Stew strongly believes he must preach the gospel to himself every day; recognizing that he is simultaneously a sinner in need of grace and a saint that God has blessed beyond his wildest dreams.
From Stew: “The most important thing in my life outside of the spiritual foundation I have through Jesus is my wonderful family. I married my wife in 2001 and am blessed to have such a pure and humble life partner to walk through life with. I have three kids. Charis is a pre-law student at Purdue. Cal is finishing up his senior year at Central HS, and Joe is a freshman at Central.”
Life Verse: 2 Timothy 2:2 “And the things you heard me say in the presence of many witnesses entrust to reliable men (people) who will also be qualified to teach others.”
Favorite Food: Steak Fajitas from Pappasito’s (any good Tex Mex); Smoked Brisket; and possibly a good Cajun meal of a Shrimp PoBoy and Red Beans and Rice
Hobbies: I love spending time with my family exploring, going on soccer road trips, going to the gym, gardening, and listening to podcasts. I used to like to watch college football on Saturdays but none of my teams are bringing me as much joy as they used to :)

Scott Adams

Administrator

Scott Adams is the administrator of Encounter Church. Scott and Amy have 5 adult children. He is in charge of running the day-to-day activities that keep the organization moving.
From Scott: "I figured out a long time ago that I am wired as a teacher/mentor. I try to be intentional about slowing down and passing along the knowledge/ wisdom given to me."
Favorite verse: I’m not sure I have a favorite Bible verse… but I love Eph.2:10 ‘We are God’s workmanship, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do.’ It reminds me that we are created by our Creator to create!
Favorite thing to do: …spend time with my sweetheart, help my kids navigate life well, get on the floor and play with my grandkids.
If I have a day to myself, I will take a long bicycle ride or make something.

Belinda Jackson

System Administrator

Belinda Jackson is a volunteer administrator at Encounter Church. Belinda helps manage the event calendar, coordinates Sunday worship service, and helps others become more effective volunteers.
Favorite verse: John 3:16-17 ‘16 “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life. 17 For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but in order that the world might be saved through him."
Fun fact: "As an early teen, I was adopted from Serbia (Yugoslavia) into a family of around 40 siblings. Growing up was so much fun, and the holidays were a blast. I am differently abled (disabled), but God is using it for His purpose. Through Christ I love serving others."
Things I love to do: "I love hanging out with my family & friends, who are very dear to me. I love having deep conversations. I love going out and adventuring. I love reading and I love talking about Jesus."
